  • Author: sophia

Description

This Chocolate Pecan Pie features a rich, fudgy filling packed with toasted pecans. With its crisp crust and gooey center, it’s a decadent treat that’s perfect for any holiday table.

Ingredients

Ingredients:

  • 1 (9-inch) unbaked pie crust
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • ½ cup full-fat coconut milk
  • ½ cup maple syrup
  • ¼ cup coconut sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons bourbon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon fine sea salt
  • 1½ cups chopped pecans

Instructions

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the foundation: Preheat your oven to 350°F and press an unbaked pie crust into a 9-inch pie plate. You can use a prepared store-bought crust to save time.
  2. Create the chocolate base: Fill a small saucepan with 1 inch of water and bring it to a boil over medium-high heat. Add the chocolate chips and coconut milk to a heat-safe bowl that fits snugly over the top of the saucepan. Stir often as the steam from the boiling water heats the bottom of the bowl, melting the chocolate chips. When the melted chocolate looks smooth, use oven mitts to remove the bowl from the heat and let it cool for 15 minutes. (It needs to not be hot, so it won’t scramble the eggs.)
  3. Combine the filling: Transfer the melted chocolate to a large mixing bowl. When the outside of the bowl doesn’t feel hot, add in the maple syrup, coconut sugar, eggs, vanilla, and salt. Mix well until smooth, then add in the chopped pecans and stir again.
  4. Bake to perfection: Pour the chocolate pecan filling into the unbaked pie crust. Bake at 350°F for 35 to 40 minutes, or until the center of the pie has puffed up and started to crack.
  5. Cool properly: Let the pie cool on a trivet or wire rack for 1 hour, then transfer to a flat shelf in the fridge to chill until firm, at least 4 hours. (Overnight is even better!)
  6. Serve and enjoy: Slice and serve the pie chilled. You can add any toppings you like, such as whipped cream or vanilla ice cream. Leftovers can be tightly sealed and stored in the fridge for up to 5 days.

Take your time, trust the process, and most importantly, enjoy the journey of creating this exceptional dessert that will become a treasured addition to your baking repertoire.

Notes

Creating the perfect chocolate pecan pie is about more than following a recipe – it’s about understanding the interplay of ingredients, temperature, and timing. Each step builds upon the previous one, creating layers of flavor and texture that result in a dessert worthy of your proudest moments.

Remember that baking is both an art and a science. Don’t be discouraged if your first attempt isn’t perfect. Each pie teaches you something new about your oven, your ingredients, and your technique. The joy of baking lies not just in the final product, but in the process of creating something beautiful and delicious from simple ingredients.
